I’m going to be honest, it still doesn’t feel real to me sometimes that Jurard is in Holostars now? He’s the only vtuber I’ve been familiar with since the very first wee days of their PL when vtubers were just starting to incline and I was first getting into the hobby. The fact that it’s been all these years now and that dumb filterless kid (I say this with fondness) is this whole other successful and beloved character now is just like… Man where does the time go lol
I wonder if there’s an alternate timeline where it could’ve been his voice behind Ryoma of the most recent NijiEN wave, or if he was accepted into a different agency.
I thought the casting would be for Claude because his wave debuted 3 weeks before Armis. (I don’t watch Claude. I didn’t watch Avallum Cup.) IDK when the PLs for Krisis and Avallum (if FSP is the other agency) graduated/went on indefinite hiatus, but they’re also a possibility.
Can’t remember it that well, but I think Claude and FSP PLs graduated around the same time as a certain homeless man. Krisis might have been a possibility given how short Niji’s pre debut period seems to be and how long ago a liminal thief escaped from prison.
with the way he described the other corpo, i think he was talking about niji. he would likely be the voice behind ryoma or even claude because his group debuted before armis.
I’m not saying I don’t get it…but I honestly expected something grader for Ruze’s birthday merch. The Dice tower is something so….niche, and it doesn’t even feature him. I would get it if it had at least some dice but it’s a $45 cereal prize on its own …
fauna’s dice (two 20-sided and 1 6-sided) and pouch was 3300 yen together and ruze’s dice tower made of acrylic is like 6600 yen wtf cover? i’ll still buy the set cus i want the bonus things but still? ruze’s luck debuff strikes again?
I don’t mind the niche merch, more of I feel this release could’ve been more aesthetically cohesive? I can imagine most of the Armis boy’s merch as part of their birthday art world, especially with Tavi’s teacup in the actual piece. But with this, the design and build of the dice tower would feel out of place to me in P-poco sensei’s birthday scene (making me delulu that the dice and cards in the art were supposed to be the birthday merch). Maybe time/budget/sourcing issues forced their hand toward printed acrylic, but if it could’ve been a faux leather or laser-cut wood flat-pack dice tower it might’ve felt more like something out of the Criminal’s Cut.
You think Ruze of all people wouldn’t think of aesthetics? Its obvious to me he wanted dice based on the art, but Cover just couldn’t do it and the dice tower was a compromise. I think a little pouch would’ve been neat though.
My delulu theory is that there was supposed to be dice, that is why they’re the focus of the birthday art and why merch was shown on the unarchived bit of the stream. Love the desk mat though, so I’ll at least be grabbing that.
There’s definitely a bit of an aesthetic clash. My theory is just that they weren’t sure on what else to bundle into the set, but they didn’t want to make it more obvious than it already is.
Despite it all still being awesome merch, Ruze still has the fewest options out of any of the first round of Armis birthdays. All three of the other boys did 4 items + a card and voice pack for the bonus.
Ruze did 3 items + stickers and a voice pack for his bonus. The stickers are adorable and amazing, but Ruze’s merch still definitely broke a pattern for one reason or another.
Ruze has been very plain about enjoying his more niche activities since debut. He is the only current Holostar where dropping tabletop-related merch doesn’t feel a little forced besides maybe Altare.
idk man. niche things have always been a birthday thing. we’ve been so lucky the other boys have released something so universal. but stuff like shinris planner or vespers tea pot are for niche audiences when you really think about it.
Not sure how I feel about OcTalks being upgraded to a monthly radio show instead of a weekly thing. But if he wants to be comfortable with the new format then so be it. Well, I’m going to miss his weekly zatsus.
My thoughts when he made the announcement was “‘ig the current format was too much pressure for his weekly workload”. We know he’s a busy guy and I feel his stream sched during weekends is packed. A typical Tavi weekend (Asia timezones) is usually collab Saturday morning, menshi Saturday eve, OcTalks on Sunday with maybe another stream also on Sunday. Deadline is tighter if an OcTalks episode is in the morning his time; moreso if it’s preceded by another stream such Party Animals two Sundays ago.
I have no idea if picking and thinking how to answer member submitted questions are easy to him because he mentioned looking for questions that can be used to spark discussion. IMO gaming news is the weakest segment because it’s very dependent on something happening worth talking about, which is subjective. There are weeks with no big news so some of the “news” he picks seem like expanded tweets lacking in substance. Not much to discuss, felt like filler because he wanted to report at least 2 news. Like… I don’t give a shit about Phil Spencer joking on the X button placement of a PS5 controller. He could’ve excluded that yesterday and he’ll still have 4 news last ep. I know he said he’s limited on what he can talk about and it shows. I don’t mind him reporting non-gaming news he finds interesting if it could get audience engagement other than imaginary head nods. None of those were as vapid as the X button joke but I haven’t watched all the eps. Finding management-friendly entertainment news (both gaming and non) sounds like more work than it needed be.
OcTalks Radio being monthly could mean Tavi won’t spread himself too thin despite the additional singing. None of us want him to burn out. I will miss the next week’s schedule reveal before he tweets it out/post it in the community tab. I guess that’s another deadline where he can take it easier now – having the sched graphic done. There were tiny mistakes such as wrong dates in the image which are usually caught during OcTalks. Since he’s more music-focused than his gen mates, I’m looking forward to the singing.
IMO the gaming news segment is redundant where you can just follow gaming news sites on Twitter. I remember he tried to do Holostars news but it didn’t go anywhere aside from promoting the boys’ covers.
He has explicitly said that he’s passionate about discussing gaming news, so it’s something he wanted to do. It really does seem like it’s just a challenge to include sufficient interesting topics that he can get through management approval.
Here’s hoping a shift to monthly format makes things easier for him, and if he wants to include more Holostars promo stuff, he can work out a way to promote activities month-to-month that provides more personal touch than a project announcement tweet.
One of the changes Tavi assumes may happen is more Holostars news but that’s due to them being a month’s worth. Such things can be frontloaded or backloaded in one month with other weeks being relatively quiet. They’re almost if not all promo.
Regarding gaming news, I think he wanted to yap without being confined by character limit or be conscious of the number of posts he makes in a twitter thread. It’s better if he can bounce off chat. For example, discussing what counts as a remaster or a remake after news of (insert game) getting one of those treatments. Somebody says it could be marketing thus the convo goes there. Another chatter brings up another game remake/remaster for comparison so the discussion is steered to that direction. However, not all news he picks inspire that kind of engagement. It doesn’t have to be deep tho. Nikke x Dave the Diver collab was a collective headscratcher.
I’ll miss the weekly octoposse question submissions, aita situations, relationship advice, & love life tea. I’m not against the rebranding but I worry how everything will fit in a single stream. I am excited for archived monthly themed songs though!
Ruze gushing over the fan projects is giving me major cuteness aggression <3<3<3

LOL @ Ruze reading the mango stream SCs and nobody in chat questioned why he was doing it.

No, Ruze was not interested in any agency until Cover scouted him.

Ruze got scouted instead of auditioned?!? That means his work really caught his attention!
