It makes me so sad Tavi is actively sabotaging himself by leaning into being the scat idol. All through the grounded collab last night all he did was joke about drinking shit water.
If this is just a hobby job I guess growth doesn’t matter but it baffles me why he acts this way if it isn’t.
He’s so talented I want to see him grow but I can’t see how that’s going to happen with the constant grossness you have to crawl through to get there.
I wish he would lean more into the anatomy stuff instead, that is at least cool and weird instead of biohazard gross and weird

Ngl, but sometimes gross-out humor has its limits. Fortunately, I don’t see anyone calling Tavi the “poop guy” or “toilet guy” in chat or elsewhere but tbh, I agree that this type of humor is not for everyone and it’s probably the reason his CCVs are low except for his karaokes.
Maybe he might grow out of it or be tired of it eventually.

Another reason why his CCVs are always low/not a lot people really watch him is because most of his 70-80% of topics are really south elysium inside jokes. Everytime i tune in to his stream, I feel like an outsider :c
I don’t get his jokes, most of the fans have their own circle, and even Tavi doesn’t explain his inside jokes to the viewers, mostly only South Elysium fans that gets the references :c

His timestamper tries to at least put/explain the references when she’s done with it so it’s something I appreciate. I think the fans are very welcoming though so don’t feel intimidated with talking with them!

The fans you talking about are the ones that watch the other boys in general and not octavio main only. Those octoposses who really stayed just for Octavio are not really welcoming from my experience. When I first joined in, the ones who welcomed me are from either Ruzader, Bubby or Sorawrity mix fanbases that watches him too and its been like that up to this day. You can see that through pre-chat when you always watch Octavio’s stream or vods.
They have they’re own clique too like one anon said above, and mostly chatting on discord. This will get downvoted i know, but that’s my experience. If your experience was different, Good for you then.

I’m an Octavio regular who often lurks and I don’t really see them being non-welcoming? If anything, the topics being discussed in prechat have been nothing related to the Discord topics as that’s not allowed to be taken outside.
If you’re wondering why they’re not being overly chatty in prechat saying hi or welcome or hello newcomers it’s because no one new was chatting in prechat at all.
Communication is a two way street.

Same. I see people in chat laughing and joke among themselves.. but it’s in South Elysian so I can’t relate and can’t laugh along. I really wish he’d translate things like Hakka does whenever Hakka responds to ES jokes/supas , and Tavi should also tell chat to speak English as much as possible
I know most of his fans and regulars are probably South Elysian but he really should cater to other fans outside of SEA. Just look at Anime Impulse, since they’re from EN branch, they’d be attending cons in NA, but that’s not where most his fans are, so his tickets hasn’t sold out yet

Tavi needs to enforce his own channel rules more.
He should also follow his own rule if he wants to foster a more international audience. I wonder if he wants to break out of the SEA audience bubble, though.
I try to translate the Filipino he says in chat if I’m there but my vocab isn’t deep, I can’t catch him live all the time and skip streams if I’m not interested. Some cultural references are hard to explain quickly through text so he should explain it live.

Same. I try to translate too when I’m not even full-blooded filipino coz I know how it feels like to be left out in convos. But I didn’t grow up in PH so some of the cultural memes, celebrity names or deep tagalog words fly pass me & I have to look up its meaning elsewhere.I do see some poppets in the fancord explain the jokes or share the translations there. I hope they get encouraged to share it in chat too.I really wanna see Tavi succeed with the international fanbase coz I want more people to experience his creativity, talent & hardwork. I hope somehow feedback reaches him or his management so he can improve his reach.

I really love watching him in collabs and I think its because he’s often not the one steering conversation topics because of what you mentioned. I’m not SEA and don’t get the cultural/language jokes, I don’t like the toilet humor, but I am a NA night owl and would tune in more despite the timeslot being inconvenient for most NA watchers if I related to the topics a little more often.
Others in here mentioned his timeslot being an issue, and I agree if he wants to break out of an almost exclusively SEA audience, taking up a morning stream time like 8EST would probably work.
He is super talented and witty and I want to see him truly succeed, not just coast on the oil barons he currently has, though I’m glad he has them.

Not an octoposse and I do understand the other concerns above. But I will “kind of” address the reason for his night JPT stream timeslots if people forgot it already. Iirc He mentioned that he is out in those times (after the first stream in the morning) due to a “meeting”. That meeting is the vocal practice with his coach most of the time (I think he already mentioned this in multiple streams too), then he goes home to stream again for the second time.
So at least let him pass on that one. Those things are out of his control and he just wanted to stream a little more before he goes to sleep.

Well, it would explain why his tickets in the anime impulse didn’t sell out fast like Ruze or Jurard. But it’s a lose-lose situation for him because he has to compete with JP members if he streams at night or compete with the other EN members if he streams in the morning.
