I don’t totally get what this 7 days to die thing is. it’s like a zombie survival game server? or something? i’ve been confused since i saw it on bettel’s schedule twice in a row, but I guess I’ll find out when he streams it.
yes, the concept is you gather, build supplies and try to survive and strength everything before a zombie raid happens on the 7th day and attacks your base. It’s gonna be interesting considering you gotta be really organized for you to survive and know eachothers whereabouts and they’re playing on the hardest game mode. I’m betting on Altare, Bettel and Shinri to thrive though.
Every night the zombies will attack where the players are or where their base is, ramping up in difficulty by the day. On the 7th night a Blood Moon happens, which is when the zombies get far tougher and a bigger raid on the players occurs.
You then continue into the next week with the same difficulty scale increasing. So Night 14, the 2nd Blood Moon, will be far tougher than the Blood Moon on Night 7. And so on.
(Just for example, Hololive JP also did their own server for like a week or something, and the girls survived 49 nights. I didn’t get to watch so I don’t know what their settings or challenge were.)
In addition to what nonnie above said, the base game loop consists of looting abandoned buildings for supplies + doing quests for the trader NPCs for rewards and EXP + fortifying your base for the horde nights. You must balance between these efficiently in order to do well, and there are several stat builds you can spec into for your preferred playstyle (I like running an agility/intelligence hybrid build for bows, knives, and robot buddies, for example). This is, of course, on top of the base game play of survival game + killing zombies.
I personally really enjoy it, it’s got a really good survival base and looting and killing is very satisfying. The building is also surprisingly in-depth and they do a good job of disguising its voxel base so everything looks natural and not the grid of blocks it actually is. Very fun game, fully recommend.
