After the intro of the podcast i counted the times lando looks at the camera or monitor where he can see himself and he look at himself thirty times up to six minutes and ten seconds in while connor look at himself five times up to that point and he isnt looking at hakase because you can tell when he is. An example is 44:53 he has to look across to see hakase then he looks towards a camera or screen and sees his reflection and he adjusts his glasses. Just focus on the conversations lando…..

I am getting quite tired of the short/connor food take jokes. i feel like he’s always the main personality of the podcast even though there’s two hosts. connor always comes off as real passive and reads as guest on his own podcast space to me personally. i like some bits sometimes but then i feel the conversation turns so boring so quickly.

this latest episode was definitely a bit of a drag, but as someone who genuinely really enjoys the podcast i’m kinda hoping this was just a bit of a stumble and they’ll recover for the next episode. even though i enjoy their dynamic a lot, i have been constantly worried about the podcast’s lack of mass appeal and potential for growth leading to a premature cancellation. i really hope they try to actually figure something out and not just give up on it entirely

I think one of the problems with their podcast is that there isn’t a set goal like what should the podcast be all about That’s why they seem to run out of topics to discuss. Just look at the Trash Taste podcast. They talk about their experience in Japan and the anime and manga subculture. That’s why it lasted for years. Their listeners would listen to their podcast because they’re interested in Japan or anime.
And this is another problem with Lando’s podcast. Who’s the target audience? The former magmites? Lando fans? Former Begni fans? Bettelions who just want to stare at Connor? And did the podcast bring any new listeners? Considering Lando is a numbers-focused guy, it’s no surprise this may not last long.

Speaking of Trash Taste, they were also kinda awkward early on. I think having three of them helped to keep having stuff to talk about compared to just two peeps. They also recently started doing more themed episodes to keep things interesting. I think Lando and Connor are both very funny, witty, and they get along well, so the podcast should be a banger but hopefully it’s just some early awkwardness.

The TT crew figured out fairly early on that they couldn’t keep talking about anime and manga. So they branched out to discussing life in Japan, current events in their lives, and perhaps most importantly including guests.

I think the target audience here was always gonna be former fans of Lando and Connor and the dynamic they had but, the thing is that most of them have moved on. Rather that be to another vtuber/fleshtuber or just to another person that works at the same company. Believe it or not most of the fans on youtube don’t engage with PL unlike twitter or discord fans so the largest audience there is already halved. I mean hell connor’s vods for his main job get more views on average than the pod. It’s not bringing in new people because none of the podcast topics are unique and engaging enough to really sink your teeth into. I genuinely don’t know what they even could talk about as well to prevent that.

Given the numbers and how much Lando is a numbers guy, I doubt it will last very long. I say this begrudgingly because I actually like the podcast, I do my chores while watching it so it’s pretty good for me. Unlike a lot of you here and on twitter, I do actually enjoy the podcast, but i guess everyone getting their wish.
Sadly Lando never sticks to stuff that doesn’t make numbers.

Because they’re both really online guys who are busy and don’t necessarily do that much stuff outside of cons or talk about drama which kinda makes it hard to find a lot of subject matter to talk about rather than alot of other youtuber/streamer podcasts.

A schedule adjustment would undoubtedly help. Rotating guests besides his usual crew might also help because it could give them new material and set subject(s) to orient discussion around for that recording.
Both of these should probably be pretty obvious to Lando. But if it isn’t, kinda points back to the duality of him as a content creator. He’s a wacky guy who rejects restrictions on his creative capacity while simultaneously acting like someone who very much needs someone behind the camera helping him stay focused on a goal for more than a month or two at a time.

I was thinking about adding more guests could help the other day. Most of the popular streamer/youtuber podcasts I see have atleast 3 hosts or more and or have guests on pretty frequently if not. I think a bi-weekly episode twice a month, one with a guest and one without one would be great. But I know it might be hard to do that just seeming to the fact that I don’t know if many content creators who they are friends or acquaintances with live near them versus a place like LA or even Tokyo. I guess they could have call in guests but the logistics around that would be difficult as well. I do think the idea was fine for this whole thing but the execution has been Meh. Lando has so much creativity and yet seems to have no true motivation behind a lot of the things he does even if the ideas are great.

Connor is also a bit flighty and easily distracted, so putting them together without a third person to be the “adult” in the room is going to get aimless pretty fast. Unless they regularly go out of their way to do things together specifically to discuss on the pod.

I agree especially about them needing a grounding force in the room, as sometimes it gets really loop heavy, but I do think they’re actively trying to do more stuff together to try to have more things to talk about it’s just a bit mundane. It’s a bit of a tricky situation though because at the end of the day, Connor isn’t an indie streamer who can say fuck off and go on trips or do random stuff without any notice and then comeback without any notice as well. There’s actual management and teams involved with his main line of work.

Not really the point of ops post but I agree that they should change to less frequent uploads. Probably Bi-Weekly. I watched since episode 1 and I feel like there’s not a lot for them talk about anymore even though it’s only been about a little over a month. Maybe it’s because I watch Connors main job but he and Lando tell a lot of the same stories back to back. Which is fine but I feel like it’ll get stale sooner rather than later. I do watch other podcasts and I feel like in the beginning they find a hard time finding their footing and I don’t know if it’ll improve or decline anything with the impending Vtuber/PNGTuber for Lando and him still having to produce professor content for his main channel while Caspurr is finding his footing. Connor is also moderately busy with his main job but not nearly as much as japan era so Eh Idk.

(OP here!) I was wondering about this just now, since as a newcomer to him as a whole I don’t really notice the inauthenticity personally, but I think I might know why for some like yourself as an older fan it could be more noticeable.
GB is a character with a set-in-stone lore created for him to play around with, while Krazy was a persona he created himself. Yes, he’s shared a lot about himself as GB but I won’t be surprised if some things that I think he would had said or done as Krazy were either exaggerated or toned-down.
Not to mention his accounts are all privated on Twitter (I could be projecting here, do take this with a little bit of salt), so perhaps there are still some bits and pieces of himself that he’d rather keep private now as the person behind GB or straight up can’t talk about, thus adding to the inauthenticity?

Eh, it’s less the paramaters of the character background and more the way he interfaces with his fans and collab partners now that I find difficult to stomach as somebody who previously watched him.
BFE for example isn’t something that Cover would have decided for him, it’s a direction he chose to go in and it’s always very strange to watch somebody switch to that when you enjoyed their content without it before, it feels like “selling out” in a way to me in that it’s something one does for profit.
Either way, since he IS an online personality, it’s true there’s no way for me to know what was the “authentic” him. All I can know is that he’s one of the few cases where I really preferred his PL over his corpo persona. While his numbers may never have been stellar, Krazy’s departure felt like a loss of something high-quality and unique to the indie v/pngtuber scene. In Stars, in contrast, I ironically have a hard time saying he “shines”. Rather, watching him struggle to meet corporate demands is stressful in a way that watching Krazy never was. And since he’s no longer active on his PL, it means that I’ve more or less dropped him as a whole when I really did think he had potential before.
Sorry for the text wall, it’s just something I’ve thought over a few times now.

I see what you mean. It’s always hard to see your idols change in ways that you might not get used to, if ever. Besides that, for me personally as a dedicated Bubby myself sometimes I would feel antsy because he’s the only one who has yet to involve himself in any musical activities as a solo act (besides that snippet of an original song that he posted on Twitter a while back). While I love his more narrative-heavy projects like his T3 vampire ASMR and the date nights (especially the birthday merch ad video), I do wish I could hear more of his singing since I think he has a lovely voice and a lot of potential.
Considering that he is a Holostar now, I think Yagoo and the rest of his genmates truly see something in him that the both of us haven’t. I guess all we can do now is wait and see what he has in store for us. As naive as this may sound to many folks, I have faith in him.

It’s stuff like him forgetting basic guidelines, not meeting menshi rewards, and just like… not delivering the level of quality I came to expect in his PL. When he debuted, as an old fan of his and a day 1 Tempura, I thought, “This is going to be great! He’s going to bring what I know him for tk Stars!” But everything he’s done has been like… Just less?
I have ADHD too and I have to imagine it’s the overwhelming addition of all these new responsibilities behind the scenes that keeps him from really taking advantage of this opportunity on-screen the way other talents have. It would explain why he’s the only boy in EN who has yet to return to his PL as well. So I know that all that can be done is to be patient with him. In the meantime, I’ll watch the others and keep an ear out for change.

I get you! There are times when I would go “girl what” at the out-of-left-field things he’d say and do, and him not giving out menshi rewards in a timely manner is indeed concerning. Him being as sweet as he is, at least on-stream (though I’m sure he’s just as sweet offline, at least from what I’ve heard about him from other talents), is truly a saving grace, personally, but we all know that’s not enough. As you’ve said before, best we can do now is to be patient with him. I’m sure that he’ll figure things out one way or another. When the day comes that there is tangible change and we’re seeing not only improvement but also him finally shining bright, I hope that we can celebrate it together.
