I don’t think I’ve seen this discussed here before. Was anyone else a fan of the boys from their PL/part of their old community but haven’t gotten used to their current one? I still enjoy his content just the same, but God I miss his old model.

I was watching Kamiya Juu quite a bit. It took me a long time to get used to the dino, tbh even after a year he still catches me off guard sometimes. kinda still miss his old model and identity.

The only time this has happened to me was watching Professor Lando for a few years then noticing he just disappeared one day. I didn’t care about vtubers back then and thought he just left for personal reasons. Fast forward like 5-6 months and I fall down the vtuber rabbit hole, find nyfco, am only vaguely aware of what Holostars is but I go on their pages out of curiosity, my jaw hits the floor when I see that Magni is Lando.
Then VG debuts and my life has never been the same since…
Even though I was never really a Magmite and didn’t have any strong opinions on the situation, after the grads and all the drama I witnessed on here I was never able to enjoy Professor Lando videos the same way again 😢

So, on Shoto’s Rizz tier list, he uses Professor Lando instead of Caspurr. Ofc, he hasn’t collab with Caspurr afaik but they do follow each other.

It means Lando’s Professor persona is more popular and well-known than Caspurr. Ofc, if Shoto uses Caspurr, people on his chat will go, “who’s this guy?” so he had to use the Professor instead. Lando has a steep hill to climb if he wants his vtuber persona to succeed after he mentions he’s scaling back from his Professor persona for now.

For him part of the draw of vtubing is playing a character. And he’s talked several times about how it would be a lot harder to keep the Professor shtick going the older he gets. It’s easy and funny for a guy in his 20s to pander to coomer weebs even if that’s not for everyone, but it’s pretty obvious that concept has run its course.

It’s funny reading this when the masterminds of “Numbers” will tell you this is exactly what a ‘brotuber’ should do. To that point however, if you’re creative enough, you can spin anything into anything with he right kind of lore.

some of the most successful male vtubers look like basic “just a dude” anime protagonists with a slightly fantastical theme and almost no kayfabe to match it. The less complex a concept is, the more it will appeal to the masses instead of falling into a niche.

I think he did used to mention it on his accounts, but when he scrubbed them to join cover, it went underground. Early discussions on /mans/ had the spanish speakers immediately picking up which country he was from due to his dialect, and his mother and brothers are not the most doxx-friendly guardians, there are phrases here and there in the spanish streams that they have joined, I think hakkamama even said his real name in a few of the handcam cookings. Having to mute the mic for vans driving by blasting on loudspeaker, and the motorcycle highway, and the industrial trucks at a certain time of the morning, all of it speaks very specifically to his region.

as another person that got a really high number on that test, sending hugs to everyone because i was not brave enough to post it anywhere publicly lol. hope things get better for all of us…. ive just got too much trauma to work through that always leaves me seeming angry and depressed when i interact with ppl even when im trying to put on a positive facade
