she has mentioned on stream years back that her grandparents are wealthy and paid for her education, but that her mom tried to keep them distanced and calli herself worked hard to earn her own money when she was old enough. i recall calli even mentioning she was in a golfing club during her school years in a collab with someone and it didn’t seem to register to her how much of a rich person activity that was. there are other small comments she makes here and there about money that often feels like she’s very disconnected from the average person ever since her success in holo, but i don’t know if i wanna list out every little thing she has said when i get the feeling this post will get reported anyway.
i write this as a former fan that admired her talent and work ethic, but started seeing more and more of her problematic past around not only money but also edgy racial stuff and the way she reacts to it less with remorse and more with determination to protect her current success… she gets a lot of unjust harassment from antis, but she’s just not what i thought she was when i first discovered her…

It comes from a lot of different sources. Sometimes a talent accidentally shows a screen with private information and people work from there. Sometimes they share things with friends in confidence and those people (or staff) leak things regardless. Sometimes offhand details said in streams accumulate over the years– and there are always people dedicated enough to keep following any lead until it turns something up. There’s no one single source/explanation. I have particular incidents in mind with all of these examples.

Yeah I’m not going to name the liver but I saw a certain female vtuber’s photos get doxxed in live time back on NYFCO after a couple comments years down the line helped creeps narrow down exactly what high school she went to, and from there comb through the entire yearbook for the year she would have graduated, and then find which girls were most likely to be her based on other self described traits like size and ethnicity. The stuff I saw happen while doomscrolling NYFCO honestly taught me more about opsec than anything else in my time on the internet.

She’s averaged about one stream a week over the past year, though it was a bit inconsistent – sometimes several times a week, then nothing for a month+. I don’t think anybody saw it coming right now though. If anything, she’s been ramping up activities lately (amesame spelling bee, ENreco, myth anniversary, holoGTA).
Aqua wasn’t crazy sudden, she’d barely streamed for ages and then did a bunch of collabs out of nowhere right before the announcement. Ame is similar is except with the collabs, she’s barely streamed over the last year or so and it’s been apparent that her heart isn’t in it anymore.
Honestly it sounds like what many of us have wished for re: graduations, right? For the talent to depart on good terms if they want to, but still be able to come show their face once in a while, maybe say congrats to their remaining genmates on big milestones, etc… At least, that’s how I hope it goes.
From what the other myth girls have said it’s basically that, it’s ideally what i’ve wanted from a graduation, i always felt like hearing their voices or even showing them again was a bit much for graduated talents because it’s not like they died. I hope this continues forwards and it’s not just a one off case because it would be game changing for both talent and fan.

i mean she’s been streaming sporadically like Gura, but other girls have taken long hiatus’s (Haachama, Laplus for ex) and came back.
you never really know when someone will graduate or not which is why cherishing your oshi while theyre still there is so important.
