I’d rather it be a hugbox then people putting down unrelated talents while trying to prop their own oshi up, especially if the two are friends. You’re not cute or silly by cutely insulting your favorite while putting their own friends down.
Maybe, but I don’t think you’re any more qualified than the admin to determine what’s appropriate to remove or not. Anonymity and Poe’s Law makes it pretty hard, and the front page post makes it clear they’re going to be more strict. Considering the bullshit I’ve seen here, being too strict is probably better than being too lax imo.
There was one comment on the fleshtubers page that is throwing shit at Altare for being lazy while his former genmate Magni/Caspurr made a new original song for Halloween. It was already taken down. Then, there’s another comment that was taken down asking if Caspurr peaked during his time in Holostars which is obviously bait.
Really, dude? Learn to differentiate between a bait post (e.g. posts that diverted the original topic or “X doesn’t care his genmates” etc) and a genuine post. Though the OP has a point that some posts were taken down despite there being some good discussions under the replies.
I’m curious, has Ina’s manager always gone by Kumomane or are mane-sans of the other branch starting to pick up the trend of naming themselves are animals? Either way, I think it’s cute
I don’t think any of the Live girls’ mane-sans have used an animal before this. It’s definitely cute! Also super fitting for the manager of the tako to also be an eight-legged critter.
Go off on your gatekeeping, I guess? Been following Hololive since Council debut, I just think it’s efficient to remove the “Holo” part when we’re talking about two branches that both start with it.
Why the boys can be called “Stars” but not the girls can be called “Live”?why must the girl called Holo? why can’t the boys called Holo too and must Stars?I pick up habit calling the girls live because the boys was called starssince when this one become big deal? holo was the production name too. doesn’t just represent the girls. I never even heard the boys everytime I encounter name Hololive because all people just told me its vtuber girl groups production until I search it myself that there’s group called Holostars.and when I starts researching about the company, the boys was called Stars all the time while the girls mentioned as holo and I thought Its weirds, like shouldn’t they called the live like the boys as stars?so I think the one its weird was the fans from girls side, heck I learn the stars phrase first was from the girls fandom post too. while the boys side fandom was chill with the phrase “stars jp” and “stars en” like its not big deal and it make easier to differentiate the group too
There are no such thing as “live girl” before 2024, it’s happen after selen termination and the mass niji refugee camping on hololive and change their definition because “we don’t like your culture of non-inclusive fanbase” the same reason there are “hololiver” get pick up.
it all depends on which places you lurk.for example: on /vt/ and similar spaces, “holo/holos” is the most used moniker. on certain discord servers and even youtube comments, “the girls” seems to be the default term. and so on.
Been watching stars since late 2020 and have always referred to them as live and stars. Calling somebody a “holo” just feels weird. Otherwise I call them talent.
I’ve been phrasing it this way since 2022, since I’m admittedly too American to have watched much of the JP boys. I’m sorry if that makes you uncomfortable.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone refer to the girls as “Holos,” but that might just be because I’m not often in a discussion that talks much about people outside of Hololive. I see “the girls” and “the boys” a lot. I have also seen “Stars” or “the Stars” used.
But I will say, I don’t think it’s fair to use terminology that implies the boys aren’t just as much a part of Hololive as the girls? Totally possible I’m overthinking that.
Anyone who actually keeps up with current content should already have an idea of the lingo. If they don’t then they need to ask other fans or watch more stuff before inventing their own terms. Like how “holomem/holomems” is used to refer to only the girls because that’s how the talents themselves use it. The community should take cues from the talents instead of wasting time debating nomenclature that has already been established.
Respectfully disagree. Sometimes the talents themselves say something weird or gatekeep-y.
Ex. Who does and don’t get to call themselves “Holotori,” which wasn’t made an official unit in the company until months after Hakka’s debut, and ~1 month after Nerissa did. That was Kiara being a gatekeeper, and the company formalizing it. Subaru isn’t even an actual bird, fans just memed that one into existence.
Eh, people can use whatever terms they want as long as the meaning is clear. No one had any trouble figuring out what that poster was talking about, and whining that they’re not following the specific terms you’re used to just makes you seem like an annoying nitpicker.
Ina’s PL tweeted the most thinly veiled hint at the issue at the same time her company account announced her hiatus and it’s no big deal. Just can’t do anything on her accounts while she’s in Japan because it falls under “work” which is an issue if there’s a problem with her work visa.
To put it briefly, she visited Japan as her artist PL not as Ina so it complicated her activities as vtuber self. It’s not like she’s in big trouble or something. It’s not really a “hiatus” either because she will be back in 1 week
i mean a sudden week pause in activity is still a hiatus. vtuber community has just been traumatized by every hiatus announcement including the word “indefinite hiatus” that we just think hiatus means indefinite now lol edit: actually did it say anywhere that it was just going to be 1 week? i thought the company announcement tweets were that ina would be gone and they can’t say for how long
reese is so so cute ngl :3 he’s such a dork and so passionate about it i wanna ruffle his hair and kiss him on his forehead and pack his lunch (idk why i just do) we need more nerds like him

I’m a new fan and I am a bit out of the loop with the Live/Star fanbase. What is this “unicorn” I keep hearing popping up in discussion here and on twitter?
There’s no “Live” fanbase nor any “Live” branch. Hololive fans call themselves “holofan” in EN and “hololis(tener)” in JP.Unicorn is an old term that predates vtubers from the JP side. It’s just delusional sad people that dislike coed stuff.Unicorns on the EN side refers to antis that hate holostars and male vtubers. There’s a lot of people using the term against anyone that feels like an enemy. Mainly because a lot of users in 4chan took over the unicorn identity and created a toxic subculture around it.The main difference is how on the JP side unicorns are not seen as antis/haters, to the point that the talents do bring them up and talk about them from time to time. There are holos like Kanata, Laplus and Pekora that openly described themselves as unicorns, they also made fun of unicorns many times, like in holoGTA.
Incel type who at the mention of Holostar in the vicinity of the Live girls they foam at the mouth and started sperging out. They have a discord of some sort coordinating raid and anti the boys.
Is it still the same few guys doing it, Helmite, lupro, and suspicious guy? Last I heard they have recruited more people in there discord, even some proclaimed “holostar fan”. Maybe it’s just them larping to get the edge of the argument.
I was surprised when I went to a con last year and I swear to god there are many, many male Holostars cosplayers, they vary from the JP talents to Tempus. Shien and Altare are popular among male cosplayers here too
can only speak in my case as a guy who ended up watching Altare and Shinri the most because they’re the only ones I can stand listening to when my brain is mush after work
In my opinion Hakka has many (though not more than females) male viewers! I know some male (and nb) friends who are totally into him. I think he, along with Shinri, got some new male fans since his trip to Indonesia.
I don’t think the boys have shared youtube stats for viewer gender in quite a while, and that’s what is the true testimony of fanbases is. StarsEN as a whole leans towards a more female fanbase. From what i’ve seen the boys who probably have most male fans in chat at least are ShinySpicy + Bettel and even then it’s probably somewhere between 60-75 percent female to 40 to 35 percent male. For StarsJP it’s probably Roberu who’s the most balanced.
It’s impossible to accurately get that information but from fan discussions it seems in en Bettel and Axel have a larger portion of male fans, but realistically it’s much less than 50%. The only star I can see with a 50% or more ratio would be roberu
I’m so glad this place exists after the origin site. This place has kept me so sane during times when things were bad for them or I just get super parasocial and need to get my thoughts out of my brain about the boys.
