Both my oshis from hololive and holostars play pretend to be so happy and having the best time of their lives (Hakka and Nerissa yes i have a thing for birds) but both their PL/RM have said really concerning things when dropping the mask, Nerissa saying she is truly unhappy, and Hakka saying he really hates himself…I… i just wish i could protect them. Especially Hakka, made me cry so much, because I was so ignorant, I never even suspected it especially with him, and I felt so stupid because i didn’t knew they were hurting so much.
Both things can be true at the same time. They can be very happy and having the best time of their lives as part of their corporate job. If you think Hakka is “playing pretend” when he interacts with his audience, then… idk what to say. He’s quite genuine in how joyful he finds Hakkito interaction and how grateful he is for the love and support. However, that doesn’t erase any other mental health concerns he may have. Neither does self-doubt erase any happiness he feels. People are more nuanced than that, you know? And you also have to keep in mind that they are still performers on their PL. Hiraga is a vtuber, he can be a little freer with his filter outside of the corporate environment, but he is still putting on a character performance. Perhaps it’s closer to his natural self, but you’ll never truly know somebody behind the camera. So try not to take any dark humor jokes too deeply. You have to trust that he’s a mature adult and will take care of himself the way that he needs to.
idk about hakka but as a fellow jailbird who follows her PL, i honestly just think she has clinical depression independent of what’s going on with holo. we can’t fully know what’s going on with her but IMO holo/her fans add to her life rather than increase her burden and she’s said as much many times. your sentiment is a little misplaced
This is a really dangerous way of thinking, assuming you can know what’s in another person’s head like this. You don’t know them, you are seeing an extremely limited scope of 10% of their lives, and they do not need you to rescue or protect them.
Depression is very real but it does not mean their job is the source. A bad job can contribute to it, but it doesn’t go away even when everything is going right in your life. It’s not a problem you specifically need to solve for them.

Petty people that clearly have preconceptualized hatred for anyone who doesn’t do things the way they want. They can’t get over it despite them them saying “respect their wishes” for their own sake. They very clearly are hypocrites that don’t respect it both ways. I am saying this as some one whose hololive oshi does collab with Stars and other guys. People care way too much about what people they don’t even watch do, basically.
I think some folks have mixed feelings about the girls in general, and it’s a little magnified when it’s someone perceived as not supporting the boys. Fauna hasn’t spoken positively or negatively about them since after they debuted, as far as I know, so folks might interpret that in multiple ways.
This is the one part of the site where I don’t personally see any issue talking about the girls. Let’s not stress over it. <3
Is holoplus worth using? I am worried about the current mess of twitter but I don’t want to move to bluesky and I just want to find a holo related chill community
it got a lot better after the initial launch, but the filter systems are wonky at best and tbh i don’t see much content there worth browsing. all the most cracked artists and funniest memes are on twitter still. we may see a more concrete transition a few years down the line but as of now it’s like reddit but even less funny somehow. needs some time to cook and transition.
i have been enjoying my oshis pl streams so much more than holo streams. i really thought i was not enjoying vtubers anymore, but i feel revitalized after watching pl streams. the biggest and best difference is a smaller chat/ viewer base. i love when he rambles without interruption and that chat chimes in without steering it another way through super chats. it feels more organic like a friend is talking to you, rather than sitting behind a group of friends and listening to them talk. i love my oshi(s pl) so much!
Not for quite the same reasons you listed, but I also love my oshis PL streams. Chat still feels large and fast moving, so I don’t feel any closer than I normally do, but the games he plays are things the boys don’t have perms for. It also feels like he has his guard down a bit, making more crass jokes or freely speaking about things without worrying if a company wouldn’t like that.
