Does anybody know if anime impulse has ever dropped more tickets for M&Gs for stars? My oshis tickets sold out in 2 mins and now I regret not taking the chance on them.
I’m on the fence about buying the fan made Happi coats. On one hand, I’m more than happy to show off my oshi and support fan made projects but on the other, I have the constant looming fear that my oshi will graduate before I get to publicly rep it. The support for Holostars events hasn’t improved and I doubt we’ll ever get a Holostars live concert. I hate being such a downer but to me at least, the happi will be the equivalent of an expensive poster that will never leave the walls of my room.
I feel this particularly because I got a ton of Magni merch at a convention while he was on hiatus and about to graduate, and when it happened I just sat in everything I’d gotten and had a well what now moment. but even after everything I don’t regret the purchases, everything I have is part of my memories with my oshis and they make me happy to reminisce on the good times. maybe it helps bc I have lots of people I watch in holo and was already a fan of a lot of talents before tempus was even a thing, but I’ll just say life goes on and nothing is forever but hobby collecting is like a physical chapter of your life. don’t let the idea of “but what if my oshi leaves/I grow out of this eventually” deter you! everything is a phase but that doesn’t make them not important to you.
Let me put it this way as someone who used to sit on the fence about stuff: if you want it and keep thinking back on it, just go for it. Most of them are only $40-$50, which genuinely isn’t that bad. If you come to regret it, you can always resell it, but it’s better to have just jumped on something you wanted than thinking “oh man…I wish I had gotten it…”
I think if you go to a lot of conventions and other meet-up type things that the Happi is something that is fun and worth it, since you can get a lot of enjoyment and mileage from being able to rep them in those situations too, not just concerts.
Personally though, I don’t have a lot of that stuff going on around me, so I just stuck to the ohmonah stuff that I can daily wear. Less because I’m worried about how long I’ll be here and more about bang for my buck. I have stuff from fandoms that I haven’t been in for decades that are still in my house getting lots of use. If it’s a fun good product and you’re going to get a lot out of it, I think it’s fine to go for it without sweating too much, and also shaking off the fomo urge to get everything will help you pick better quality things to keep around.
This is a bit of a meander to say, I think if it’s gonna make you happy for however long you use it and you feel like you’d get your money’s worth, grab it! But also not having a fomo mindset and thinking carefully about it is a good skill to have. (And a secret third thing that StarsEN fanmerch sells incredibly quick and easy on Mercari, so you can always leave the fandom or pair down to just things you love and make some of your money back if things are still in ok condition!)

I’m still happy buying official merch because a portion of it directly goes to the talent’s income, but I’ve been seriously re-evaluating how long I want to stay in the fandom and what I’ll do if all this plastic no longer sparks joy soon.
