Alas stuff never really lasts for all that long huh. Oh well, I hope that the last days of this site and all of the people who don’t troll find somewhere else to be. And a place to collect nuked vods, that part has been pretty decent
A space where I feel like I can engage in constructive criticism about the boys, and complaint about Cover when it makes a questionable decision, without being dogpiled on any of the major social media spaces. No fan Discord I’m in allows critique.
Being able to acknowledge the work they’ve done outside of Cover is also a huge plus for me. I only knew about two of them prior to their debuts, but I’d like to support them during and after their time doing the idol things for us.

Also, PL talk which shouldn’t be taboo like the other anon mentioned so I’m being the change i want to see and posting that on my twitter instead.

A place to acknowledge and appreciate the PLs of talents because I still find it absolutely bizarre how taboo it is to not be able to talk about past/future work of a talent. It only serves to give companies power to exploit talents and to feed delulu fans loyalty to the brand over the individual. Any other creative field would call this shit out. Imagine if you weren’t allowed to know the names of the artists that drew vtubers, like Pako or Senzaki. This does happen occasionally like YuGiOh card art is uncredited work and everyone except for the company considers this a dick move. Yet here in the vtuber sphere, we enforce it on behalf of the companies. I know there are some talents that prefer things separate, but the fact that this is a blanket cultural rule sucks ass.
I also wanted a place to talk about not only the boys, but also the girls and other vtubers outside of Holo too, with some basic understanding of respect amongst people that was found on the early days of the nyfco Tempus page. Revisionists like to say that Tempura anons were always toxic and awful (“go make your own site” and “this isn’t a hugbox” type bullshit), but the fact that this elysium website even exists is a testament to the fact that there was a significant number of positive people that knew how to be civil. Eventually, both on nyfco and this site, people got shitty. Genuine fans and trolls alike both decided to be awful. Naming names of community members to witchhunt and drag through the dirt and claiming it was good to do on an anonymous site when everyone knew that was bullshit. Making personal attacks on the boys to the point that it leaked out onto Twitter and had to be directly called out. And now all this inter-company tribal vitriol. I was and still am incredibly disappointed in admin for refusing to clamp down on this behavior when they had and still have the power to do so. The trajectory of this site was clear as day and yet the community here was allowed to wither and die.
Hornyposting. I was actually one of the smut writer anons from nyfco Tempus. I wanted to write more smut here, but the vibes always felt a little off, and then the vibes took an absolute nosedive in the last several months.
All I can say now is that I wish things were different. But I don’t have the power to change any of this.
admin should have closed the site as soon as people started doxxing the boys partners and spreading unsubstantiated rumors about the boys or going after specific fans if they weren’t going to moderate, all of those need a nuclear option but it got like this because nothing was ever moderated except by anons themselves and report abuse. it was supposed to be a fan page but instead it just seems like over time more and more people just use it to hurt the boys.
and then if you push back on things people made up in their heads they tell you its not a hugbox, like as if complaining is the same as fabricating stories.
all that being the case maybe i’m biased but until the 2b troll the tempus page was the one place that i think was mostly normal. armis page was bad from day 1 though, people saying gibby was grooming and dating fans when he was married the whole time, doxxing his wife, then creating whole threads talking about a specific fan or fans. and i’m not even gibby’s fan or anything, somebody just straight up went ‘look gibby has a fiancee here’s her instagram link on a silver platter.’ mess. i know not all armis fans are bad but the whole page has been a bad look even early on.
ruze anons did something similar too with his fans, maybe because anons did it with gibby, and then it seems like people finally got tired of it or they moved onto octavio or something.
The FSP thing is literally one guy who has a weird grudge against them, and he’s had countless meltdowns after getting called out about it. You can see anons having perfectly normal, civil discussions about FSP, but suddenly, like half a day later, every positive or even neutral post suddenly gets downvoted and reported out of existence and a bunch of bizarrely angry posts or very obvious bait posts going “FSP are doing so much better than Holostars at _” suddenly appear all at once, with a strangely high number of upvotes. It’s almost painfully obvious.
A lot of your complaints are valid. But I’ll push back just a bit on the “tribalism” angle. Remember, this industry is zero sum, when someone becomes a big fan of a new vtuber they have less attention for their old oshis and might abandon them entirely.
It’s completely understandable and fine when this process happens naturally, but it also means that bad actors come in and try to “advertise” to the fanbases of existing “bigger corpos” because they think it’s free real estate to steal fans for their new oshi. I don’t think it’s insane to get miffed when this process is happening openly.
a space where PL discussions are a bit less taboo. i know immersion is a big part of the appeal of corpo vtubing but i’m just so nosey. in the last year or so the lines between corpo and PL have blurred a lot, but it’s still not really something you can talk about on twitter or fan discords.
