on reddit there’s a thread about the whole jurard thing and it’s locked (no new comments can be added) but one of the highest upvoted posts is someone spreading misinformation that jurard ‘cheated’ his way into hololive and no one bothering to clarify the context of what he said. is there anything we can do about it, since the thread is already locked and we can’t rebuke on there?

If it’s before 5pm EST in Elysimerica, I probably have them going on my second monitor while I work. If it’s after, it’s usually background entertainment while I’m gaming. I have a hard time focusing on a single thing at a time.
Seeing the hololive official twitter account finally announcing that Kobo, Sora, Roboco, and Matsuri are going to perform at the Bilibili concert and Yagoo’s explanation at a shareholders’ meeting that they’re well prepared in case another Taiwan incident erupts, really made cautious about it given what happened before.Also, this made me curious about how Holostars was received in the Chinese market. Their official Bilibili account hasn’t been updated since the Taiwan incident, unlike the hololive one. And idk if they plan to reopen again just like the hololive one which made me curious if some of the EN boys would be interested in opening a Bilibili account.
Honestly, even as someone that became a fan during the Taiwan incident, I feel like this Bilibili scare is overblown. People pretending Cover is forcing Kobo and other talents to stream there and trying to get others to write disapproving feedback to Cover when the reality is that Kobo regularly spoke and sang Mandarin songs on her YouTube streams when she got comments from Chinese fans. It just feels like another red scare; our own nationalism in the west pushing back with a hint of racism bubbling under the surface.
I’m reminded of when Council debuted while still in the aftermath of Coco’s graduation, where most talents were able to list other languages they understood like Korean and French, Bae kept the fact that she knew Canto and Mando under wraps for a long time (even editing out a moment on stream when she spoke to her mom in Canto) and only in the last year or two has she gotten comfortable reading/speaking Chinese with her audience.
As far as Starmin are concerned, I’ve noticed a number of Starmin from HK and Taiwan over the years, though sometimes they remove the flag from their profiles and just stay undercover in English or Japanese. There’s still a lot of racism in the vtuber community, like when Sana graduated and went back to being a gacha illustrator and would occasionally stream on Bilibili there were plenty of comments calling her slurs and a sellout. I don’t see the problem in Holopro re-entering the Chinese market because the market is a lot bigger than just the ultra nationalists and it’s not only the mainland that uses Bilibili, either. I cannot imagine Jurard and Octavio would associate themselves with Bilibili without attracting antis from outside vtubing due to territorial tensions between PH and China. If Cover tells them to appear there and they comply, they’ll be harassed for a long time. Jurard was a Coco fan too so the Taiwan incident must’ve been a sore spot for him.
